MEMPHIS, TN – Virginia Agnes Grice Berryhill, 78, realized the promises of her longstanding faith in God and met her Creator on Friday, July 17, 2020 from Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. Ginger was born in Memphis at John Gaston Hospital on January 6, 1942 to the late Gordon Grice and Agnes Gertrude Nicholson Grice. She was raised in Memphis/Whitehaven area, graduating from Southside High School where she was a member of the ROTC. A skating enthusiast, she met another skating ace in Johnny R. Berryhill. They became a skating team at the ole Rainbow Skating Rink, where Elvis often skated, eventually became sweethearts and were married on March 25, 1960. This beautiful union lasted 60 years, 4 months, and 18 days, until her death on Friday. Ginger and Johnny claimed the Byhalia area as home base, but for over 35 years, they were a “road team” traveling the USA where Johnny was a construction supervisor for Dillard’s Department Stores. They literally lived and worked from their RV in all but 13 US States. Patriotic Americans in their own way, Ginger, being a history buff, developed a love for monuments and museums. As they traveled, they observed firsthand many historical sites, parks, and museums across the nation. A Red Hat Lady, Ginger loved artistic painting, arts and crafts of all genres, crossword puzzles, and reading. She and Johnny were members of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Byhalia. She enjoyed singing in the Church choir and in the Good Sams, Thousand Trails and Family Motor Coach Association “Maestros” Quartet. Their favorite vacation spots were Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church with her pastor, Bro. Oscar Giesland, officiating. Private burial will follow the service at Tupelo Memorial Park in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will begin at the Church at 11 AM.
