Okolona/Biloxi-Villon Courtland “Veon” Vaughan, 48, met his Maker in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi on Sunday, December 23, 2018 after a sudden illness. Veon was born in Gulfport, MS. on June 13, 1970. He moved to Okolona as a child and spent his youth in Okolona attending the Okolona High School where he was a football player. Villon made a profession of faith at the First Baptist Church, Okolona and was active in the Church ministries into young adulthood. Villon approached life with enthusiasm and adventure. His multiple talents included cooking, antique shopping, sports and restoring furniture, frames and antiques. His most interesting hobby was a lifetime of breeding, raising and selling pedigreed Great Danes, literally all over the United States. Villon was talented with his hands and, accordingly his life labors included truck driving, house painting, collecting antiques and selling in consignment shops. Villon lived 20 years in Arkansas before returning to the place of his birth, the Mississippi Gulf Coast about 2 years ago. Villon loved having a good time and making every day count for good. His cheerful personality and large presence will be sorely missed by family and friends.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, December 29, 2018 from the Sanctuary of his home Church, First Baptist Church, Okolona with Rev. Dr. Randy Lewman and musician Brenda Whitlock presiding. Burial will be in the family plot at Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM-service time on Saturday only at First Baptist Church in Okolona. Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel is honored to be serving their friends.
Villon leaves behind his Mom and Dad, Douglas “Doug” McNeilly and Gertie McNeilly of Okolona and Pearl. his son, Courtland Tanner Vaughn of Okolona. His granddaughter, Graceland Monroe Vaughan of Okolona, his brothers, Semar Vaughan (Penny) of Booneville, Jacque Vaughan of Arkansas and Jason McNeilly (Carrie) of Florence, MS, His grandmother, Dorothy J. Altchley of Loudoun, Tenn and his extended family and host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father when he was 3 years old, Gerry Glenn Vaughan and his grandparents.
Pallbearers are Semar Vaughan, Jacques Vaughan, Jason McNeilly, Tracy Ray, Andy Lollar and Shawn Beard.
