Raymond Eugene Homan, 87, met his Creator on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home. He was born on November 2, 1931 in Pontotoc County to the late Samuel Robert Homan and Jessie Marshalene Wilder Homan. A Pontotoc Co. resident most of his life, Raymond graduated from Algoma HS before being called to serve his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. By trade, he was a machinist for Rockwell(later Delta) for 32 years. Raymond was a master gardener in his spare time and was known as “Tater Man” all over NE Mississippi for his sale of home grown sweet potatoes. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching the news and many Western TV shows, including Gunsmoke, Big Valley and Walker Texas Ranger. He found Jesus at age 70 and was a member of Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 3 PM Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Wesley Stephens officiating with a private burial at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 PM-6PM Saturday at Holland Funeral Directors Tupelo Chapel and from 2PM to service time Sunday at the Church.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Annette Clemons(Casey) of Tupelo; grandchildren Zach Clemons and Rachel Homan; a daughter in law, Tonya Homan of Southaven; his caregivers, Addie Owens, Mary Clark, Marion Weeks, Chiquita Young along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gene, his son Robert both of whom died in 2011, his brothers Robert Lee and Herbert Homan and his sisters Beatrice Brazeal and Mildred Reese.
