Saltillo - Raymond Doll Carpenter, age 77, passed away at Sanctuary Hospice House on Saturday, May 4, 2019, in Tupelo, Mississippi.
He was born in Shreveport, LA on January 4, 1942 and was raised by his Aunt Hattie and Uncle Dave Carpenter in Hamburg and Roxie, Mississippi.
He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and that journey took him to Lancaster, NY where he met his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Rogacki, who will miss him dearly.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army he became a millwright primarily, but was a jack of all trades.
He was proud to be a Master Mason.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Haven Carpenter and Bessie Ruth Bailey. His four brothers, Bobby, Billy, Jack and Jerry Carpenter and a grandson, Andrew King.
He leaves behind five children, Sheri (Mitchell) King of Fort Lauderdale, Fl; Dave (Mindy) Carpenter of Tupelo, MS; Dawn (Stephen) Southworth of Tupelo, MS; Troy (Christy) Carpenter of Saltillo, MS; and Jason Carpenter of Saltillo, MS as well as eight grandchildren.
He enjoyed being outside and working in his yard. He will be sadly missed by family, but we are glad he is no longer in pain. Instead he is maintaining the gardens of Heaven.
A Memorial service at Holland Funeral Directors, 5281 Cliff Gookin Blvd., Tupelo, MS, will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. For those who cannot attend a Live stream will be available at Hollandfuneraldirectors.com
