Murphree Lee Cruse
Okolona - Murphree Lee Cruse,78, departed this life unexpectedly while completing one of his favorite past times, deer hunting, on land near his residence in Okolona. The son of the late Murphree Lee Cruse, Sr. and Carrie Mae Whitt Cruse, he was born on January 17, 1940 in Chickasaw Co. He worked over 35 years on a production line for Futorian Furniture Mfg. Co. and retired from Chickasaw County after 11 years of service. Murphree Lee enjoyed life and was a beloved family man who adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A lover and respecter of God’s creation, he found great happiness in the outdoors hunting and fishing. A practical jokester and encourager, Murphree Lee always had a big smile and a kind word for everyone. He was a longtime faithful member of the Bethany Church of God of Prophecy west of Okolona for over 30 years.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Bethany Church of God of Prophecy with his pastor, Bro. Jim Jackson officiating assisted by former pastors, Bro. Edwin Pharr and Bro. James Gray. Burial will follow in the Cruse family plot at Boone’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4PM-8PM Thursday and from Noon-service time Friday, all at Bethany Church of God of Prophecy. Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel is honored to be serving their friends.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 59 years; Elizabeth Roberts Cruse of Okolona; two sons, Joey lee Cruse (Mackenzie) of Golden and Kenneth Michael Cruse (Lana) of Houston; His daughter, Virginia Cruse Earrey (Richard) of Houston. 2 sisters, Mary Cruse of Okolona and Shelby Jean House of Tupelo; 6 grandchildren, Josh Earrey (Nikki), Jessica Hamilton (Joe), Jay Landon Cruse, Dollina Cruse, Jolee Cruse and Annalise Cruse; 8 great grandchildren; Kennedy, Blakeley, Preslie, Jaylon, Jordan, Silas, Kolby and Nealee; 3 special brothers in law, Berlon Belcher, Edward Roberts and Jimmy Westmoreland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Neal Earrey and 2 sons in law; Phil Earrey and Wayne Pruitt; 2 sisters, Gladys Reed and Lillie Franks and 2 brothers, Granville and Monroe Cruse.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Cruse, Darrell Franks, Jaylon Earrey, Jay Landon Cruse, Johnny Belcher, Aaron McCollum, Josh Earrey and Will Morton. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Cruse, Jackie Dean Cruse, Richard Pruitt and Joe Hamilton.
