Kenneth Wayne Stephens

August 30, 1933 ~ June 1, 2019 (age 85)

Tupelo – Mr. Kenneth Wayne Stephens, 85, went in to the arms of his Heavenly Father Saturday, June 1, 2019.  He was born in Itawamba County on August 30, 1933.  He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.  He married Mary Marjorie Christian of Itawamba County on September 29, 1956. A loyal and hardworking man, he made Tupelo his home in 1959, where he worked and cared for his family.  He drove cars for Carlock Toyota, was a Plant Manager employed by Tecumseh Products for 13 years, as well as working 22 years for Rockwell/Delta.  Kenneth loved playing golf in his free time and could always be seen in his famous squirrel hat. His favorite hobby was fishing. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church.  He was a faithful Christian and loved his family dearly.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Roger Puhr officiating assisted by family.  Private burial will follow at Itawamba Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 AM to service time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dewitt Stephens and Ruth Hill Stephens; his brothers Cleburn, Charles and Billy Stephens, and his sister Dewdrop Reno.

He is survived by his wife, May Marjorie Christian Stephens of Tupelo; two sons, David Wayne Stephens (Leslie) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Thomas Earl Stephens of Oakland, CA; four granddaughters Anna Katherine, Chandler Grace, Carolyn Elizabeth (David Luke Holcomb), and Natalie Christine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wesley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2122, Tupelo, MS  38803.  Condolences may be e-mailed to  The service may be viewed at at 11 AM Wednesday and for 60 days following.
