Joyce Luther Chennault
February 4, 1942 ~ February 24, 2019 (age 77)
Flowers & Gifts
Tupelo – Mrs. Joyce Luther Chennault, 77, was called to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 24, 2019 while at her residence. She was born February 4, 1942 in Houlka, MS to Ed Luther and Virgie Tutor Luther. She was a graduate of Houlka Attendance Center and was married to Edward “Tommy” Chennault for 57 years before his home-going, September 6, 2016. Joyce lived in Tupelo for the past 49 years. During her working years, Joyce was a receptionist employed by Dr. Malcolm Moore.
Joyce, also known as “Nanny” was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She had a servant heart and a precious soul, helping many others in need and opening her doors to many needing a place to stay. She was the true definition of the Bible “to love your neighbor”. If you needed a friend or advice, she was there and treated everyone the same. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She received a great blessing from the television ministries of Adrian Rogers, David Jeremiah and Charles Stanley. She read her Bible daily.
A celebration of her life will be at 6 PM, Friday, March 8, 2019 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Steve Griffin and Bro. Scott Griffin officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 PM to service time.
Survivors include her 4 sons, Bill Chennault and Marty Chennault, both of Houlka, Zack Chennault (Rhonda) of Saltillo, and Will Chennault (Erica) of Valdosta, GA; 2 daughters, Beth Swords (Robin) of Blue Springs, and Vickie Gillam of Hampton, GA; one sister, Joan Morphis of Houlka: 3 grandchildren, Haley Chennault, Michelle Lewis, and Nick Austin (Kelli); 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six siblings, Drucilla Tutor, Dorothy Burgess, Fannie Wilson, Rex Luther, Millard Luther, and Montez Stubblefield.
