John Wesley Gregory

November 9, 1985 ~ March 13, 2019 (age 33)

Okolona-John Wesley Gregory, 33, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 13, 2019, after a brief illness.  Born to John Andrew and Claire Luebke Gregory in Amory on November 9, 1985, John Wesley grew up in Okolona, attended its public schools and graduated in 2004 from Amory Christian Academy.  He attended Itawamba Community College and obtained his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Mississippi.  A lover of all sports, John Wesley was a committed Ole Miss Rebel fan who loved attending football games and cheering on his beloved Rebels.  Locally, he was a regular at the Monday Night Football crew at the Clubhouse on the Word Farm. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Okolona where he was on the Youth Committee and a leader in the Awana Group.  John Wesley attended his daughter, Jilli Grace’s plays and other activities proudly. He loved all animals and visiting with family and his great host of friends.  John Wesley worked for Region III Mental Health, now LifeCore, before becoming associated with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services Ability Works Program where he was an Instructor.  A kind and considerate soul, he left a large footprint in his three plus decades and will forever be known for his kindness and his love for his family and friends. He married the love of his life, Jessica, on June 20, 2015.  They enjoyed life to the fullest-traveling, attending Ole Miss Sporting events, and spending time together as a family.

John Wesley is survived by his wife, Jessica and their daughter, Jilli Grace of Okolona and their dogs Winston and Webster; his parents, John Andrew and Claire Gregory of Okolona, his sister, Julie Gregory Hensley and husband, Rob of Tupelo, and his nephews, Knox and Lucas Hensley, his in laws, Danny and Marlana Samples of Smithville, his God parents, Ken and Patty Ann Coleman of New Albany, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew Jackson and Earlene Gregory and Wes and Margie Luebke and his uncle, Jack Gregory, Jr. 

A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Okolona with Rev. Dr. Randy Lewman officiating.  Special friends will deliver reflections and music will be by Angela Hunt.  A private family committal will be held in the Gregory Family Cemetery at Chapel Grove.  Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7PM today (Friday) and from 10 am until service time on Saturday.  Holland Funeral Directors-Okolona Chapel is honored to be serving their friends.  Condolences may be e mailed to
