Verona – Mr. Jimmy Mead Criddle, 76, died Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Sanctuary Hospice House following an extended illness. He was born August 4, 1942 in Ackerman, MS to John S. Criddle and Sarah Glasgow Criddle. He was a patriotic man, serving in the U.S. Army stateside during the Vietnam War. Jimmy enjoyed traveling all over the country for many years while working as a self-employed welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring old automobiles and trucks. He was a “jack of all trades” and was good at doing many things with his hands. He was a member of Verona First United Methodist Church.
A service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be at 2 PM, today (Tues.) in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Jimmy Webb officiating. Private burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be today from 12 noon to service time.
Survivors include his siblings, Billie W. McNaughton of Melbourne, FL, Sandra Morris of Cedar Bluff, MS, Clark Criddle of Castalian Springs, TN, and John D. Criddle of Malabar, FL; caregiver and cousin, Ella Scruggs (Tommy) of Palmetto community. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Glenda Murphree Criddle who died April 26, 2014; stepmother, Audie Dee Criddle and siblings, Sara Ann Gillikin, Joe Dallas Criddle, and David Criddle.
