Garland Dale Anderson
Okolona-Garland Dale Anderson, a lifelong resident of Okolona, Chickasaw County, and the baby boy of Ferman and Hadie Anderson, left his earthly home on June 9, 2019. Our Superman was born September 1, 1937 to live his life as a farmer, cattleman, husband, Diddy, and Poppa Dale. He was an Okolona graduate of the Class of 1955, a graduate of Mississippi State University, a Mississippi National Guardsman, a City of Okolona Councilman from 1973 to 1977, and a lifelong member, deacon, and chairman of the Board of Okolona Christian of Okolona.
While working the Lord’s land and raising and nurturing livestock—what Dale was passionate about and loved doing—he never missed a chance to deliver his life’s wisdom acquired from his occupations, his friendships, his travels, and his experiences. As we, and many of you, shake our heads, his words and expressions delivered came with a “Dale Anderson” insight to be remembered and recited during our lifetime.
Dale leaves to mourn and relish his memory his beloved and dedicated wife of 57 years, Nelda Kay Moseley Anderson; his children that lovingly called him “Diddy”, Mary Alaine Obert (Keith), Garland Dale Anderson Jr. (Sherri), and the twins, Amy Lee Jacobs (Donald Ray), and Abby Kay May (Shane); his grandchildren and great grandchildren that called him “Poppa Dale”, Donald Ray Jacobs II (Alana), Tucker Joe Trull and Hal Carver Jacobs, Michael Shane May, Boyd Garland Anderson, Baylor Anderson Obert, Hannah Claire Jacobs, Mary Charles Anderson, and Kaylee Alaine Jacobs.
A graveside homegoing will be held at the family plot at Oddfellows Cemetery, Okolona, on today -Monday June 10, 2019 at 8:00 A.M with his son Garland officiating. Holland Funeral Directors-Okolona Chapel has been entrusted with our beloved Dale, Diddy, Poppa Dale. Memorials can be made to Okolona Christian Church, North Church St, Okolona, MS. 38860.

Jacobs, Michael May, Boyd Anderson, and Baylor Obert, along with Dale’s son Garland will carry him to his final resting place.
