Cynthia Ann Smith Alred, 62, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning, June 22, 2019 from an apparent heart attack. Cynthia was born February 11, 1957 in Tupelo to the late William Jolly “Billy” Smith and Delia Agnes Gullett Smith. A lifelong Lee County resident, she graduated from Tupelo High School in 1974 and married the love of her life, Dennis Ray Alred on July 26, 1974. At her death, she had been employed over 15 years as Manager for Better Buy Grocery in Plantersville. Cynthia was a fun loving soul who loved people, was especially crazy about her grandchildren and loved the outdoors, especially camping. Her back porch swing overlooking the countryside was one of her favorite spots. Cynthia loved computer games. She was a longtime active and faithful member of Palestine Baptist Church.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Mark Hoover and Bro. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 5PM-7PM Monday, June 26, 2019 at Holland-Tupelo Chapel and form 10 AM-service time.
Cynthia leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Dennis Alred of Plantersville; a son, Stephen Alred (Martha Carroll) of Tupelo . a daughter, Stephanie Mayhew of Plantersville. 4 grandchildren, Kaylee Mayhew, Riley Mayhew, Bode Mayhew and Anna Katherine Alred. A sister, Serita Smith Murphy of Plantersville and a brother, Michael Smith of Tupelo. several nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends far and wide who loved her supremely.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class from Palestine Baptist Church.
