March 5, 1927 ~ October 21, 2018 (age 91)
Flowers & Gifts
Tupelo-Blanche Frances Ciolek Weaver, 91, entered the life everlasting at 5 am Saturday, October 21, 2018 from her residence at the Gregory Green House at United Methodist Senior Services. Born in Chicago on March 5, 1927, Blanche grew up there and attended Catholic Schools. She received her BA degree in Social Work from Xavier University. From the beginning, she had a passion to help the least, last and most vulnerable amongst us. She joined the Peace Corps where she met her husband, Thomas while he was in the military. In the late 1950’s, they settled in Tupelo where they raised their 4 children and became a part of the community. Blanche worked for 31 years for Lift, Inc. before retiring. She was instrumental in the formation of area Head Start programs. Hers was a giving heart especially when it came to children. Her selfless service did not stop with her retirement. She was an active parishioner of St. James Catholic Church and volunteered for countless functions there. She also worked through Shepherd’s Center until her health failed transporting the elderly and needy to medical appointments and was active in the Meals on Wheels program. Blanche was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and enjoyed riding horses earlier in life. Despite the many deeds of selfless giving to others in her lifetime, her greatest legacy will be that of being a wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 26, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo with Father Tim Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 from 5 PM- 7PM at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 6:30. The Holland Funeral family is honored to be serving their neighbors.
Blanche leaves behind her children: Trey Weaver (Wendy) and Tim Weaver (Julie) all of Tupelo and daughter, Becky Weaver Hampton (Bill) of Noblesville, Ind. Her grandchildren: Hayden Byars, Bryce Weaver, Hannah Weaver, William Kyle Weaver, Wes Weaver (April), Tatum Weaver, Jaelyn Weaver, Taylor Weaver, Clay McKissick, John Thomas Hampton, William Hampton and Maggie Hampton. She had one great grandson, Crixus Weaver. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Weaver on November 23, 2010, a son, Joe Weaver in 2010 and her 4 siblings.
Memorials may be made to the social programs at St. James Catholic Church, 845 Lakeshire Drive, Tupelo, MS 38804. Condolences to the family may be posted at hollandfuneraldirectors.com.
